Sloth Meltdown

A friend sent this to me today: Kristen Bell on Ellen, detailing her meltdown from a birthday surprise.

I think I found it funnier because I'm very much like her --"if I'm not between a 3 or 7 on the emotional scale, I'm crying [. . .] I'm crying if I'm too sad, and I'm crying if I'm too excited."

Proof that sometimes a well meaning surprise doesn't always go as planned...but still could make for a very good laugh. Ha!

Sometimes you can be too excited.

T-Rex Trying...

For anyone with the case of the Mondays...

T-Rex Trying - trextrying.tumblr.com

So silly, but so funny!
Poor thing :(

Some I thought of...
T-Rex trying
- to brush his teeth
- to tie his shoes
- to change a light bulb
- to hang a painting

Enjoy!

Advanced Style

Ok, I know, enough with the Youtube videos, but this one is just too good.

Advanced Style Film (CLICK to be redirected to Youtube)

It's the trailer for an upcoming documentary about stylish New York ladies. These ladies are amazing & so inspiring. They dress for themselves & don't give two sh*ts about what anyone thinks.

I think it's fun to dress up--it's an exercise in creativity...makes you feel better. Sometimes if you're in a funk, you put something on & twirl yourself around...

How to talk to girls...

Stumbled upon this & it made my day.

Proof that kids usually know better when it comes to matters of the heart. Too cute.

Sometimes that's all it takes. :)

What's for dinner?

Happiness is: breakfast for dinner!

Sometimes "What's for dinner?" can be the toughest question you'll get all day.

It's even harder when you haven't had time to go to the market. (Or are too lazy to go...) I know we've all been there...

You open the fridge and all you see are random items and an overdose of condiments.
You open the freezer, thinking maybe there might be something quick & useful there.
You open the pantry, because maybe it'll just be a cup-o-noodle kind of night.

*Repeat several times--because even if you already know what you have, something might magically appear and all your dinner problems will be solved.

Tonight was one of those nights.

After a disappointing Sunday in sports (49er/Laker losses) and waking up to a cold rainy Los Angeles, fighting the Monday crowd at the market was the last thing I wanted to do. So I came home and did the "What's for dinner?" dance. And after several repeats, I was frustrated and starving.

So I did what most great moms do when there's nothing dinner-worthy in the fridge: BREAKFAST FOR DINNER.

Who says pancakes aren't a dinner item??
Who says bacon&eggs are just for breakfast??
At my house, breakfast is served ALL day! (Take that McDonalds breakfast menu!)

Somehow, defying meal rules & regulations always seems to equal happiness.

So go ahead, have breakfast for dinner. I'm sure it'll make you smile. :)

Dinner: italian sausage, mushroom, &arugula omelette!

Friday Fun!

What makes me happy this particular Friday?

1. Whole Foods Parking Lot!!
Ok, I know this is old, but it's been stuck in my head for the past week. Sadly (or not so sadly), as a west LA resident, I can confirm its accuracy.

2. This gorgeous waterfall braid my baby cousin did. Btw, she's 13...talk about student becoming the master!

Model: Lissy / Stylist: Baby

3. Cute Miko puppy waiting for the vet. Isn't she just presh?!?!

4. Do I really need to review the positives of FRIDAY??

Happy Friday, Blogosphere! :)

Happy Feet!

Happiness is: happy feet!

I'm a firm believer in fun undergarments. No, no, I'm not talking about the risque type... (While I believe in those too, this is not that type of blog.) I'm talking about SOCKS!

Why wear boring white or black when you could wear: holiday, fuzzy, polka dotted, striped, heart, rainbow...

Now let's not get it twisted, I'm not talking about walking around with your fun socks showing. Unless it's some sort of themed party and they go with your costume--keep your fun socks hidden. (This rule also goes for the other types of fun undergarments. Ha!) Your fun socks shouldn't affect ruin the overall fabulousness of your outfit. It's more like an inside joke you're having with yourself.

I mean, come on...knowing you're wearing neon striped socks under your uber chic black motorcycle boots is pretty funny. No? Just me?

While they might not be able to turn around the worst day, but I'm sure they'll at least crack a small smile. Try it!

Fun socks = happy feet = :)

It also makes laundry day so colorful!

Perfect Crush

Happiness is: that perfect crush.

For most people, there's always have that one, seemingly perfect, person you'll always have a crush on. You're blind to their imperfections, and no matter what, the good far outweighs any bad. And every great moment only solidifies your feelings that there is no one more perfect for you.

For me, it's not a person--it's San Francisco.

Somehow, the tiny little 7x7mile city holds a special place in my heart. No matter if my flight is delayed due to the fog or if it's overcast and rainy during my stay, I love it. Like the "perfect guy," I can list out all its positive qualities, but I can't exactly explain what it is that makes me love the city so much--it's just a feeling.

I spent this past weekend in San Francisco, reconfirming my love. The fact that I somehow managed to lose one of my favorite coats and $100 of Christmas money during my stay is inconsequential. The weather was gorgeous, the food was delicious, and I had so much fun with family & friends.

MLK Weekend

But like that "perfect crush," perhaps it's better that we're not together. Because if we were, I might end up seeing things that aren't so wonderful...maybe I'd end up seeing all the imperfections...and that would be sad.

So for now, I'll stick with just visiting, keeping San Francisco as my perfect crush.

But who knows, maybe one day we'll live happily ever after...

Forever in love with the city by the bay...

**Don't get me wrong, I love LA. In fact, there will probably be a post on this at some point. But my love for San Francisco is just different.

Aloha Friday!

Happiness is...FRIDAY (after school/work/anything-zero-fun)!

I think it's safe to generalize that Fridays are pretty darn great. You've got the whole weekend ahead of you; and whether you've made grand plans or are just in dire need of a break from work, Fridays = the kickoff to a potentially awesome weekend.

So even if your day isn't going as planned, just think, "PHEW, at least it's Friday."

Or if you need some extra convincing, have some of Rebecca Black's "Friday" ear candy. Actually, don't, that might make you upset. Just take my word for it--happiness is Friday.

So...Happy Friday, Blogosphere. :)

What makes me happy this particular Friday?
1. It's Friday the 13th! (Some hate it; I love it.)
2. My new travel mug from my brother.
3. My green thumb! (Plants tend to jump ship when in my care, so this is as close as I'll get.)

Hello, All!

As a twenty-something single girl in LA, I'm practically a dime a dozen. We're everywhere in this town...

I'm the girl at the coffee shop looking crazed waiting for her caffeine fix.
I'm the girl at the gym trying desperately to make sweating profusely look less un-glamorous.
I'm the girl at the market attempting to be domestic.
I'm the girl at the bar ordering a beer because I actually like it. Girls can like beer too, damn it!
I'm the girl at work wondering if this is what I want to be when I grow up.
I'm the girl at home dreaming of having "it all".

I'm the girl on the pursuit of happiness.

Sometimes life can get crazy...and stressful...and chaotic. But no matter what, there is happiness every day--you just have to want to see it. It can be big or small, but it's there.

For me, happiness is stripes & sprinkles. (chocolate sprinkles, specifically.)

So here's to finding happiness in the everyday. :)

Pain throws your heart to the ground.
Love turns the whole thing around.
No it all won't go the way it should,
but I know the heart of life is good.
- "Heart of Life", John Mayer
